Faruk Fatih Ozer, founder of the collapsed Thodex exchange, was discovered dead in his prison cell at Turkey's F-Type High Security Closed Prison. The 2023 convict, serving an 11,196-year sentence for financial crimes, allegedly died by suicide according to initial investigations.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc confirmed an ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding Ozer's death. The former CEO was found hanging in his solitary confinement cell—a facility previously criticized by human rights groups for its isolation practices.

Ozer's 2017-founded exchange collapsed spectacularly in 2021, prompting his flight to Albania before eventual extradition. The incident marks another dark chapter in crypto's history of exchange failures and their consequences.
